Reutlingen is an outside watch and a quarter of the city of Winterthur . Together with the quarters of Guggenbühl , Talacker , Grüze , Hegmatten , Hegi , Zinzikon , Stadel and Ricketwil , it forms district 2 ( Oberwinterthur ).

geography

Reutlingen is located in the north of the city of Winterthur and borders the city quarters of Zinzikon , Stadel and Guggenbühl as well as the political communities of Seuzach and Wiesendangen . In addition to the center of Reutlingen, the quarter mainly consists of agricultural land and forest. There is an allotment garden colony in the area of the former Riet landfill in the east of Reutlingen .

history

In 1167 Reutlingen was first mentioned in a document as "Rutelingin", whereby the ending -lingin suggests a place of Alemannic origin. Until 1264, Reutlingen belonged to the territory of the Kyburger , which was later followed by the Habsburgs . Together with the pledge of Winterthur to Zurich, Reutlingen is also pledged by the Habsburgs to the city of Zurich in 1452 . A so-called draft letter is documented from 1646, in which Reutlingen is granted the right to levy an immigration fee: 25 pounds for people from Zurich, 50 pounds for those from the rest of Switzerland and, at their own discretion, from foreigners. This right, granted at the request of the Reutlingen population, can be explained by the population growth at that time: In 1634 Reutlingen had only 80 inhabitants and only a few farms, this number tripled to 207 inhabitants by 1670. In 1722/36 Reutlingen is constituted as a civil parish . The community ordinance of that time consisted of 15 articles.

In 1875 Reutlingen was given a stop on the newly opened Winterthur – Etzwilen railway . A post office box is also opened in the same year. In 1881, a cooperation agreement with the political municipality of Oberwinterthur was signed with the other civil parishes in the region . In 1922 Reutlingen was incorporated into the city of Winterthur together with Oberwinterthur. The previously existing civil parish is dissolved.

The former farming village of Reutlingen has developed into a residential village and suburb of Winterthur since the mid-1980s. The population has since doubled to more than 400 residents.

The Reutlingen Post was closed in 1993 after more than 100 years of existence.

education

The Reutlingen children attend kindergarten and lower grades (1st to 3rd grade) in Stadel. You can complete the intermediate level (4th to 6th grade) in the Reutlingen school building. For the upper level, the pupils from Reutlingen switch to one of the three Oberwinterthur high school. Secondary schools such as the grammar school are located in the city center.

traffic

Reutlingen train station

Reutlingen is served by the Reutlingen train station on the Winterthur – Etzwilen line. Two lines of the Zurich S-Bahn stop in Reutlingen:

The Reutlingen stop is not accessible for disabled people , but according to the Disability Equality Act , all train stations in Switzerland must be barrier-free by 2023. As the city of Winterthur, as the owner of the stop, does not want to finance the renovation, it is planned to close it and replace it with a bus line. The population of Reutlingen has been fighting against this for years.

On the weekends, Reutlingen is also served by the N60 night bus (HB - Oberwinterthur - Seuzach - Adlikon), which, however, only stops in Reutlingen to get off.
