The Sennhof-Kyburg train station (484 m above sea level ) is a train station in the Winterthurer Aussenwacht and Sennhof district , which belongs to the Lakes district. The Kyburg Castle is not close to the station - attainable, but only with a 40-minute walk - although the station is named after her.
The station with goods shed is under cantonal monument protection and is listed there as an object of regional importance.
history
The station is on the Tösstallinie from Winterthur-Grüze to Bauma and was opened with her on May 4, 1875. The route was extended to Wald a year later . From 1882 the operating railway company also had its own track up to Winterthur main station .
On June 10, 1918, the station along with the line was nationalized and became the property of the SBB .
Expansion of services
After the expansion of the station as part of the fourth partial expansion of the Zurich S-Bahn to an intersection station with two platforms, the Sennhof-Kyburg station will be served by the S26 every half hour from December 2018 and now has a direct connection every hour with the S11 Zurich .
Local transport
The station is not served by any bus line apart from the PostBus night bus line N68 (Winterthur HB - Seen - Zell - Turbenthal - Wila), which only stops at Sennhof when getting off.
Train traffic
The station is served every hour by the S11 of the Zurich S-Bahn and every half hour by the S26 of the Zurich S-Bahn.

Hiking trails
The Sennhof-Kyburg train station is a popular starting point for hikes to Kyburg Castle. The train station is also the start / finish point for two stages of the Winterthur circular route .
