history

The station was opened by the Aargau Southern Railway on June 23, 1874 together with the Rupperswil - Wohlen line. Three years later, when the Swiss National Railway opened the Zofingen – Baden Oberstadt line on September 6, 1877 , the station became a crossing station . The station has been a terminus for the Seetalbahn since October 15, 1883. The extension of the Seetalbahn to Wildegg on October 1, 1895 did not touch the station, but branched off at the Lenzburg hairpin. In order to be able to drive from Lenzburg train station to Wildegg, a hairpin always had to be made. The curiosity came to an end with the closure of the Lenzburg Spitzkehre – Wildegg line.

With the timetable change on December 12, 2010, the third Lenzburg - Gexi track was put into operation, making it possible to run the S-Bahn trains from Freiamt back to Lenzburg every half hour.

particularities

A special feature is that track 1 of the station is the northernmost through track and not, as usual, the track at the station building.

The Seetalbahn runs from the station square on the other side of the station building. But there is still a street in between. From the Seetalbahn you can also get to the former SNB line to Suhr .
