Aargau S-Bahn

Line network of the Aargau S-Bahn

With the timetable change on December 14, 2008, S-Bahn numbering was introduced for regional train lines in the Canton of Aargau. This S-Bahn Aargau was designed to complement the neighboring S-Bahn networks in Zurich, Basel and Central Switzerland. The line numbers were chosen in the 20 range (with the exception of the S14 Menziken – Aarau – Schöftland) so that no conflicts arise with the adjacent S-Bahn lines leading into the canton of Aargau.

No new stops were built, and no new rolling stock was procured. It is essentially a new name for the existing railway lines. Occasionally, however, certain routes have been changed compared to the 2007/2008 timetable (e.g. the Langenthal - Baden link), and the timetable has also been condensed in some cases.
