history

When the timetable changed in 2005, the Landquart - Chur and Thusis - Chur regional train lines were initially run as S8 and S9 on the Landquart – Thusis railway line - the former was extended at both ends to Schiers and Rhäzüns, respectively. Since 2009 the lines figure as S1 and S2. They run every hour. The overlap between Rhäzüns and Chur results in a 20/40 minute cycle.

future

There are considerations to include the SBB regional train line Ziegelbrücke - Sargans - Landquart - Chur also in the S-Bahn network, also in order to introduce the half-hourly service. In addition, they are to be extended via the SBB / RhB three- rail track to the Ems factory .
