RER Vaud is the S-Bahn in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland . The abbreviation RER Vaud stands for Réseau Express Régional Vaudois . The S-Bahn started operating in December 2004 and is part of the Waadt tariff association (Mobilis) .

network

The star-shaped RER network is concentrated in the Lausanne metropolitan area . Six of the eight lines run through the Lausanne train station (except for lines S7 and S8) and connect various cities in the canton. In the area of the Vaudois capital, the RER serves two stations: the Lausanne main train station and the Prilly-Malley RER station .

The following RER Vaud lines operate in the greater Lausanne area:

In addition, a TER route in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region leads to France :

The following SBB long-distance trains also operate in the greater Lausanne area:

Tact

The lines run every hour, but because the lines overlap, there is sometimes a half-hourly service. In addition, individual additional trains run during rush hour , some of which do not stop at all stations.

Infrastructure

Tracks

In contrast to other S-Bahns such as the Zurich S-Bahn or the RER Ile-de-France , the Vaudois RER does not have its own infrastructure. The entire line network runs on the tracks of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The SBB are the main operator of the RER.

Train stations

The lines that run through Lausanne station stop at the same platforms as the national trains. The Prilly-Malley stop was specially built for the RER.

vehicles

NPZ Domino , RABe 523 FLIRT and RABe 511KISS , both operated by Stadler Rail , operate on the RER Vaud .
