Albula Railway to St. Moritz

The Landquart – Thusis railway line is a meter-gauge Swiss narrow-gauge railway . It is operated by the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) and runs from Landquart via the Grisons canton capital Chur to Filisur . It is part of the main RhB network and provides the connection between the Landquart – Davos Platz railway and the Albulabahn . Between Landquart and Chur, the line covered here runs largely parallel to the standard-gauge Chur – Rorschach railway of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).

description

A Glacier Express coupled with a RegioExpress between Reichenau-Tamins and Bonaduz

The Landquart station is the starting point of the Rhaetian Railway, historically as part of the Landquart-Davos railway, operationally as the site of the main workshop and network-wise as kilometer 0 of all master network links.

While the SBB's passenger traffic ends in Chur, there is also a transition to the Arosa Railway , there is a three - rail track system in Untervaz and a three - rail track (axle load 22.5 tons) from Chur to Domat / Ems in the Ems-Chemie plant for standard-gauge freight traffic and the large sawmill Mayr-Melnhof Swiss Timber AG. From Domat / Ems, all track systems are exclusively meter-gauge. In Reichenau-Tamins, the railway line branches off to Disentis / Mustér , which merges into the main line of the MGB and is used continuously by the Glacier Express .

At Thusis, the route covered here flows smoothly into the Albula Railway , which continues the kilometer stretch from Landquart to St. Moritz and passes it on in Bever GR to the two branches of the Engadine line to Scuol - Tarasp and Pontresina .

With the timetable change on December 10, 2006, the Trimmis station was discontinued. The Untervaz train station was therefore given the new double name Untervaz-Trimmis , which refers to the indirect development of the municipality of Trimmis.
