Stadel is an outside guard and a quarter of the city of Winterthur . Together with the quarters of Guggenbühl , Talacker , Grüze , Hegmatten , Hegi , Zinzikon , Reutlingen and Ricketwil , it forms district 2 ( Oberwinterthur ).

Stadel is the northernmost area of ​​the city of Winterthur. The southern border of the quarter runs along the A1 motorway and borders the Reutlingen (Winterthur) quarter . In the east, northeast, north and west, Stadel borders the political communities of Wiesendangen , Rickenbach , Dinhard and Seuzach .

Vine growing is practiced on the southern slopes of the quarter .

history

Together with the political community of Oberwinterthur , Stadel is incorporated into Winterthur in 1922, which means that the previously existing civil community was dissolved. The interests of the hamlet of Stadel have been represented by the local association Stadel Grundhof since 1932. The place also had its own post office from 1924 to 1994, until around 1960 the place also had a consumption .

Rudolf Morf , an exponent of the Zurich labor movement and president of the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions 1890–91, was born in 1839 in Stadel.

Stadel itself has no connection to public transport, nor is it connected to the night network of the Zurich transport network. The closest connection to the public transport network is the Reutlingen train station on the Winterthur – Etzwilen line , which is served by the Zurich S-Bahn every half hour.

Road connections exist to Oberwinterthur, Seuzach, Wiesendangen and Sulz (belongs to the municipality of Rickenbach). A side street leads from Grundhof to Dinhard .

education

The children attend the kindergarten as well as the lower grades (1st – 3rd grade) in Stadel itself, whereby the implementation of the kindergarten depends on the number of children registered for the kindergarten. The Stadler children attend the middle school (4th to 6th grade) in the school building in neighboring Reutlingen. For the upper level, the students from Stadel switch to one of the three Oberwinterthur high school. Secondary schools such as the grammar school are located in the city center.

  • Mörsburg Castle , which can now be visited as a museum, belongs to Stadel . The history of the castle itself probably goes back to the 10th century, the oldest traces of wood that can be traced back to around 1100. Since 1901 the castle has been operated as a museum by the Winterthur Historical and Antiquarian Association .

  • In the Aussenwacht barn there is the restaurant Frohsinn and at the Mörsburg there is another restaurant with the Gasthaus Schlosshalde. The third restaurant is the Stadel-Beizli, originally a broom pub , at the exit of the village towards Oberwinterthur.
