Rudolf Morf

Rudolf Morf (born March 23, 1839 in Stadel , then part of the independent municipality of Oberwinterthur ; † May 7, 1925 in Zurich , entitled to live in Nürensdorf , since 1892 in Zurich) was a Swiss trade unionist and politician (SP) .

biography

Rudolf Morf was born on March 23, 1839 in Stadel as the son of the carpenter Hans Rudolf Morf and Elisabetha, born Weilenmann. Morf, who worked professionally as a metal worker, had been involved in the Zurich labor movement since 1868 , among other things as a co-founder of the metal workers' cooperative . Subsequently, from 1889 to 1924 he worked as an adjunct in the Swiss Workers' Secretariat under Herman Greulich . To this end, he was President of the Swiss Trade Union Confederation between 1890 and 1891. Furthermore, in 1874 he was one of the co-founders of the Grütliturn Association, today's Swiss Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association (SATUS) .

In 1873 Morf married Maria Barbara, the daughter of Martin Götz. He died on May 7, 1925 at the age of 86 in Zurich.

Political offices

Rudolf Morf, a member of the Social Democratic Party, was represented on the Grand City Council of Zurich from 1892 to 1904. In addition, Morf took a seat on the Zurich Cantonal Council from 1872 to 1875 .
