Rickenbach is about 10 km from the city ​​of Winterthur .

Religions - denominations

46% of the population are of the Reformed denomination, 21% are Catholic and 33% are followers of other faiths or are non-denominational.

There are two churches in Rickenbach:

  • The reformed church is located in Rickenbach itself and goes back to a previous medieval building. The present nave was built in 1695. Up until 1966 it had a roof turret, which was replaced in that year by today's modern church tower. The church has five stained glass windows by the artist Jacques Schedler, who also designed the stained glass windows of the Catholic Church.
  • The Catholic Church of St. Josef is located in the Sulz district and was built in 1958. Until the construction of the Catholic churches of St. Stefan (Wiesendangen) and St. Martin (Seuzach) , the church in Sulz was the parish church for all localities northeast of Winterthur. As a special feature, the St. Josef Church has 14 glass windows by the artist Jacques Schedler , which form a cycle on the Way of the Cross on Good Friday and the Resurrection of Christ on Easter. These stained glass windows are complemented by five more stained glass windows on the subject of the Eucharist and the Holy Spirit.

The current mayor is Robert Hinnen (independent, as of May 2020). There are only two local parties in the community, the SVP and FDP.

The village gymnastics club was founded in 1921, and there is also a boules club in the village. A football club does not exist.

From 1984 on, UHC Sulz-Rickenbach had its own NLA floorball club, which was merged into UHC Winterthur United in 1996 .
