Schottikon is a village in the municipality of Elsau in the Winterthur district of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland . Until December 31, 1921, it formed an independent political municipality .
history
Schottikon is first mentioned in 829 as Scottinchova , at that time the St. Gallen monastery owned goods in Oberschottikon. In 1467 Ober- and Unterschottikon had about 20 inhabitants, 1638 88 inhabitants, 1850 235 and 1900 253 inhabitants. After the end of the Ancien Régime in the canton of Zurich in 1798, Ober- and Unterschottikon were constituted as sections that later became civil parishes . After the mediation , these two civil parishes formed the political municipality of Schottikon.
The formerly independent municipality Schottikon became a municipality on 1 January 1922 Elsau merged , then the congregation consisted of about 230 inhabitants. On the same date, in neighboring Winterthur , the suburbs of Winterthur merged with the city itself. A few years earlier, in 1913, the two civil parishes were dissolved.
In 1930 Schottikon was given a stop on the St. Gallen – Winterthur railway line .

Schottikon has a train station on the St. Gallen – Winterthur railway line and is served every half hour by the S35 (Winterthur – Wil) and S12 (Brugg AG – Wil SG) trains of the Zurich S-Bahn . The Winterthur – Wil – St. Night train stops at the weekend. Gallen to get off in Schottikon.
In addition, Hauptstrasse 7 crosses the village.
