Typewriter Museum Beck

The Beck Typewriter Museum is a Zurich memory institution that shows around 300 exhibits from the early days of typing and office automation. The museum is located in the industrial area of Pfäffikon , Canton Zurich , at Speckstrasse 3.

The exhibits are restored typewriters and calculating machines . These include the Swiss-made Saturn typewriters from 1898, made in Meilen , as well as the Hermes , made by Paillard in Yverdon-les-Bains and the Darling by Gertsch in Fleurie. The calculating machine demos by Theo Muggli Zurich, Loga by Daemon Schmid, Uster and Zurich, and the billeters were also made in Switzerland. You can see the smallest mechanical calculating machine in the world, the Curta , made in Liechtenstein .

The archive contains part of the correspondence from Ferdinand M. Kleefeld, special repair workshop for typewriters and calculating machines in Bern from the 1910s, as well as a large part of the estate of Curt Herzstark, the inventor of the Curta calculating machine. The Typewriter Museum Beck is a member of the Association of Museums in Switzerland.
