The Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests (StMELF), from January 2001 to October 2008 the Bavarian State Ministry for Agriculture and Forests ( StMLF ), is a ministry of the Free State of Bavaria based in Munich .
Minister of State is Michaela Kaniber (CSU). Hubert Bittlmayer has served as head of office since April 1, 2015.
Tasks and responsibilities
It is responsible for food, agriculture, rural development and forestry at the state level. As the supreme state authority, it carries out the legislative and administrative tasks in these areas within the framework of the ordinances and guidelines of the European Union, the Basic Law, the Bavarian Constitution and the federal and state laws. He is responsible for the supervision of the subordinate authorities and institutions such as the Staatliche Hofkeller Würzburg or the Bavarian State Forests .

Service building
The office is at Ludwigstrasse 2 in Munich, and the building is a listed building . In the southern courtyard there has been a memorial plaque created by the Munich artist Eugen Weiß on the building since 1984 for members of the Bavarian freedom campaign who were executed there and in the Perlacher Forest .
Awards
In 2013, Division F4 - Wood Management, Forest Assets, Forest Technology was awarded the ESRI Forestry Innovation Award by the world market leader for geographic information systems ESRI Inc. for the Bavarian Forest Information System (BayWIS).
