The Universität U-Bahn is an underground station on the Munich U-Bahn . It is located on the first trunk line in the Maxvorstadt district of the Bavarian capital, Munich .
The station built below Ludwigstrasse was opened to traffic on October 19, 1971. This makes it one of the first underground stations in Munich. It opens up the neighboring Ludwig Maximilians University , other surrounding cultural institutions and residential areas. The underground station is served by the underground lines U3 and U6 . There is a link with other Munich local transport lines at above-ground bus stops.
Station complex
The design of the underground station was designed by the architect Paolo Nestler . There are several cafés on the mezzanine floors and the AkademieGalerie on the north mezzanine . Here students and graduates of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts can exhibit their works; it is separated from the rest of the mezzanine by a glass wall and can be seen by passers-by. On the platform level, the trains are accessed via a central platform . A defibrillator is attached to track 2 .
traffic
The Universität subway station is located on the first trunk line of the Munich subway network. Both lines on this route serve the station. In addition to the transfer options between the underground lines, there are two other bus lines that stop at above-ground stops along Ludwigstrasse and Schellingstrasse and establish the integration into the Munich local transport network.
The neighboring town and the northern districts of Schwabing and Freimann as well as the Allianz Arena football stadium can be reached via the line from Garching . The U3 line, which branches off from Münchner Freiheit, connects to the Olympiapark . In the south there is a connection to the central transfer points Odeonsplatz , Marienplatz and Sendlinger Tor . There are transfer options to the other two main lines of the U-Bahn and the S-Bahn . In the further course of the U3, the districts of Thalkirchen and Fürstenried to the south and the U6 Sendling and Hadern are connected.
The underground lines are served by the Munich transport company. High-floor underground vehicles of types A , B and C are used on them. The tariff of the Munich Transport and Tariff Association is used.
