The Dietlindenstrasse underground station (abbreviation of the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft : DL ) is an underground station in the Schwabing district of the Bavarian capital of Munich . It is located on the main line 1 of the Munich subway and is served by the U6 line.
history
The station is located on the oldest Munich underground line between the Goetheplatz and Kieferngarten stations and was put into operation with this on October 19, 1971. The shell was finished in 1967. As early as October 10, 1970, subways stopped at the station for the first time and enabled Munich residents to travel by subway between the Dietlindenstrasse and Kieferngarten stations for a day. Like many other stations on this route, Paolo Nestler was responsible for the design of the station. The elevator has been upgraded.
Location and surroundings
The station is located under Ungererstraße, which runs parallel to the station, into which Potsdamer Straße from the west and the eponymous Dietlindenstraße from the east flow at the level of the station. Dietlindenstrasse was named in 1899 after Princess Dietlinde of Bavaria (1888–1889), who died early and was the eighth daughter of Prince Ludwig, later King Ludwig III. , and his wife Marie Therese von Österreich-Este . If you follow Dietlindenstrasse from the train station, you will reach the Isarring , which leads right past Kleinhesseloher See in the English Garden .
The neighboring stations are the train stations Münchner Freiheit 712 meters inward and Nordfriedhof 813 meters out of town. The Marienplatz station is about 3.5 km and seven minutes drive away.
Station complex
construction
The station has two tracks with a central platform. The two tracks are separated by a row of columns. At both ends of the platform, escalators and fixed stairs lead to a barrier level. The southern mezzanine floor, on which there is also an elevator, has staircases on all sides of the intersection of Ungererstraße, Potsdamer Straße and Dietlindenstraße, while from the north there is a staircase on both sides of Ungererstraße between Virchowstraße and Helmtrudenstraße.
layout
In addition to the blue band of lines, a characteristic of many stations on trunk line 1, the color green in particular dominates the station design. The hexagonal columns are tiled with green tiles and the back track walls are clad with pale green fiber cement panels. The ceiling cladding consists of slats, with recesses left for the lamps. The floor is covered with black panels.
traffic
The U6 runs every 10 minutes at the station, every 5 minutes during peak times. Out of town, roughly every second underground train ends in Fröttmaning.
Bus route 59 stops on the surface. It runs via Bogenhausen and Ramersdorf to Giesing and west of Schwabing.
