The Munich Holzapfelkreuth was opened on April 15, 1983, was until 1989, the end point of the U3 and until 1993, the end point of the U6 . It is named after the Holzapfel family of hunters. According to this, Josef Holzapfel lived there in the 19th century as the son of a former district forester on his estate in the middle of the forest, in 1859 he acquired the estate, which was built in 1844. Until then, the field name was Kreuth (= from Reuten, the old word for clearing - that is, originally it was just clearing the forest in the middle of the forest). Since then it has been called Holzapfelkreuth. In 1889 Holzapfelkreuth was not yet in Munich, but it was a forest economy, but Holzapfelkreuther Straße still reminds of this economy today.
The train station is at the intersection of Guardini / Ehrwalder Strasse and Fürstenrieder Strasse .
The underground station was built on the occasion of the International Garden Show in 1983, which is why the back track walls consist of yellow wall panels that are curved inwards at the top, and the columns are clad with orange tiles. The ceiling is covered with aluminum slats, with an interruption between those above the tracks and those above the platform, which is laid out with the Isar pebble motif, in which the light strips are attached. At the western end, escalators and fixed stairs lead to a barrier floor and on to Guardinistraße and Neufriedenheimer Straße. At the east end, the mezzanine floor can also be reached via a lift, from where you can reach Fürstenrieder Straße.
