Subway
Lines U3 and U6
The underground station of the U3 and U6 is one of the oldest of the Munich underground and was put into operation in 1971. The train station, designed by Paolo Nestler , is like almost all other underground stations in Munich, 120 m long and is located to the north above the station for lines U4 and U5. The tunnel ceiling is supported by red-tiled columns. The next station to the north under Ludwigstrasse is called the University . To the south you get to Marienplatz , where you can change to the S-Bahn .
Lines U4 and U5
The U4 and U5 trains stop in separate tubes for each direction. The walls are provided with white wall panels in the lower area and have the yellow lines of the U4 and U5 in the middle. The upper area is only clad with a large-meshed grid, behind which the green-painted concrete wall of the tunnel tube is visible. To the southwest is the next stop, Karlsplatz (Stachus), with a connection to the S-Bahn. To the east, the next stop is the similarly designed Lehel station .
Connection of the two platforms
Since the routes for lines U4 and U5 were only planned after the construction of the U3 and U6, the transition at the end of the platform for lines U3 and U6 turned out to be very small. When the north-south line was built, Odeonsplatz was not planned as a crossing station. A narrow connecting tunnel leads from the platform of the U4 / 5 to escalators and fixed stairs as well as a lift that leads to the platform of the U3 / U6.
bus
The museum bus line 100, which runs from the main station to the Ostbahnhof , stops at Odeonsplatz . Furthermore, the bus route 153 begins at Odeonsplatz. At night, the night bus route N40 runs here every 30 minutes.
