The Scheidplatz is a four-track crossing station in Munich district of Schwabing . It opened on May 8, 1972.
description
The eponymous Scheidplatz is named after Karl Friedrich Scheid . The station is served by lines U2 , U3 and on Saturdays by the repeater line U8. Since the route of the U2 did not reach the stop until 1980, the inner track trough to the north, on which the U2 operates today, was initially not provided with tracks. The track of the U2 towards the city center was used as a siding. Until the opening of the line to Feldmoching , the U2 continued to the Olympiazentrum . In the direction of Hasenbergl and Harthof you had to change to tram 12 or 13 . Since the U3, which runs on the outer tracks, was the first to reach the station, the line color is orange, which can be found on the escalators and the seating areas. Since December 15, 2013, the U8 amplifier line has been running from the Olympiazentrum to the Sendlinger Tor on Saturdays , changing from the main route 1 to the main route 2 at Scheidplatz .
The back rail walls are made of exposed concrete, in which a relief is embedded that shows subway trains passing by like a window. The tunnel entrances were decorated with deep blue majolica tiles with red sea animals. Aluminum slats were attached to the ceiling, which together with the light strips make the high platform hall appear light and airy, which even the retrofitted elevators do not have a major impact on.
The Scheidplatz underground station and four other Olympic underground stations have been listed as historical monuments since 2020 .
