The underground station Bonner Platz is a train station of the Munich underground . Here the U3 runs between Moosach and Fürstenried West.

description

The station was opened on May 8, 1972 and is located under the square of the same name in Munich 's Schwabing district . The back track walls are made of concrete with cast reliefs. The floor is covered with Isar pebble motifs. The pillars in the middle are clad with granite slabs that were renewed between 2004 and 2006. The station is no longer illuminated by light strips, but by individual light fixtures mounted in recesses in the ceiling. Originally there were also light strips on the walls behind a ceiling panel.

The stairs lead directly to residential areas around Bonner Platz. The walls in the stairways were clad with light beige ceramic tiles until 2004, but these were removed after some had fallen.

Until the passenger elevator was retrofitted, the warehouse on the mezzanine level was fed from a freight car using a cable pull and a trap door above the track.

On January 22, 1995 , a wanted criminal shot and killed the 21-year-old police officer Markus Jobst at the Bonner Platz underground station and seriously injured his 24-year-old colleague. He was arrested five days later in Nuremberg .

Since 2020, the metro station is Bonner Platz along with four other stations of the railway Olympic U- under monument protection .
