The Aidenbachstraße is a station of the Munich subway . It is located in the Obersendling district and is served by the U3 line.
The station was opened on October 28, 1989 with the line between the stations Implerstraße and Forstenrieder Allee . The eponymous Aidenbachstrasse, named after the Lower Bavarian town of Aidenbach , crosses under the tracks immediately west of the station and south of Ratzingerplatz.
The back track walls of the station, which was one of the first to be built according to the principle of the refined shell, in which the exposed concrete walls are left raw and only refined with color and decorative elements, were painted blue and have 12 double mirrors on each side by the Munich designer Jan Roth. These should enable interesting visual relationships and loosen up the sober, reduced design. Like all stations on this section of the route, the ceiling has canopy-shaped sheet metal panels with two light strips hanging on the edges. The cuboid pillars in the middle of the platform with the Isar pebble motif are clad with white tiles and the edges are rounded off with aluminum.
At the western end of the station, escalators and fixed stairs as well as an elevator lead over a barrier floor to Aidenbachstraße, at the eastern end you can reach Gmunder Straße via escalators and fixed stairs, also through a mezzanine. There is a bus station on Aidenbachstrasse, which is served by three so-called MetroBus lines and one city bus line, and the planned western bypass of the Munich tram will also end here. The bus station is roofed over by a park-and-ride level. This structure makes the station the most important transfer station on the southern U3 next to the terminus Fürstenried West .
