The Forum Baltikum - Dittchenbühne is an Elmshorn association that runs its own theater and kindergarten.

history

The Dittchenbühne was founded in 1982 in Elmshorn as a non-profit association Dittchenbühne eV . Since 2006 the association has been called Forum Baltikum - Dittchenbühne eV The name change was due to an expansion of the areas of responsibility.

The name part Dittchen is reminiscent of the dialectic name for the East Prussian groschen . The name was chosen because many members come from the Baltic States , one feels connected to the old homeland , and because today's tour area goes as far as this medieval coin was once valid.

A theater with 135 seats will be built at the Elmshorn site. Guest performances are organized in Flanders , Denmark , Poland , Lithuania , Latvia , Estonia , Königsberg , St. Petersburg and Finland . The number of visitors is around 30,000 annually and the trend is rising (including many young people and over 3000 children ).
