The Machtlfinger Straße underground station is a station of the Munich underground and was opened on October 28, 1989.
The street on which the train station is located is named after the Andechs district of Machtlfing between Herrsching and Tutzing . It is located under a green area that was once a freight train route. The back track walls consist of rough bored piles that were painted burgundy red, but to which red objects are attached. The artistic design of these objects was carried out by the Munich artist Rupprecht Geiger . There are four two-part objects. The ceiling was clad with aluminum panels that are shaped like a canopy and to which the two light strips are attached. Since the station is very close to the surface, there are two skylights in the ceiling through which daylight penetrates. For better reflection, stainless steel plates were embedded in the platform below, which was laid out with an Isar pebble motif. At the western end of the platform, escalators and fixed stairs as well as a lift lead directly to Machtlfinger Straße. At the eastern end there are also escalators and fixed stairs to a footpath that leads to Helfenriederstrasse.
