history
Until the church is planted
In the years 817 and 837 a certain Haito is documented as the founder of lands in the immediate vicinity of Aidenbach. The place name is probably derived from this, supplemented by the Old High German pah (also bah or pach ) for Bach. In 1072 the parish of Aidenbach was mentioned for the first time in a deed of foundation of the Passau bishop Altmann under the name Etinbach . From 1076 until secularization it was incorporated into the Augustinian canons of St. Nikola in Passau.
From 1120 Aidenbach was the seat of a gentleman family; the name Atinpach is documented from this time . In the 13th century it was owned by the Counts of Hals and was given freedom to market during this time . In the following period Aidenbach came to the Landgraves of Leuchtenberg , later to Frauenberg and in 1423 together with Haidenburg to Alban von Closen .
In the second half of the 18th century, Aidenbach passed on to the Counts of Taufkirchen and was last acquired by the Baroness von Aretin.
For a long time, Aidenbach was only able to exercise its market rights as part of the Haidenburg rule. With the parish edict of 1818 , today's political parish was created, which was given full independence with the dissolution of the patrimonial courts in 1848.
20th century
In 1967 the Markt Aidenbach was awarded the title of state-approved resort . With the municipal reform in the 1970s, almost two dozen smaller towns and hamlets were added to the market community.
Battle of Aidenbach
On January 8, 1706, the Battle of Aidenbach took place here as part of the Bavarian popular uprising during the War of Spanish Succession , which broke the last resistance of the revolting Bavarian peasants against the imperial-Habsburg occupation. There were about 4,000 dead.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, parts of the dissolved community of Haidenburg were incorporated.
