history

In 735, Duke Hugibert of Bavaria donated the Saferstetten estate to the Prince Archdiocese of Salzburg . 1441 exchanged the canons of Mattighofen with the Passau bishop Leonhard von Laiming the Hofmark Safferstetten for the Hofmark Reding.

The district of Aigen am Inn was first mentioned in historical documents around 1010 and is known for its Leonhardi ride, which annually attracts riders from Bavaria and the Alpine countries on the first Sunday in November. The veneration of Saint Leonhard in Aigen has been attested since the Middle Ages . The village is considered to be the nucleus of the widespread worship of this saint in Lower Bavaria .

Until the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss in 1803, with which the rule of Riedenburg, which had been in Passau since 1175, and the entire bishopric of Passau became part of the Electorate and later the Kingdom of Bavaria , only the hamlet of Füssing belonged to the Electorate of Bavaria , the rest of the parish was Passau. With the Bavarian municipal edict of 1818 , the political communities Safferstetten, Egglfing am Inn, Würding and Aigen came into being.

After thermal springs were found during the search for oil in the former Safferstetten district of Füssing in 1937/38 , the spa business began in the 1950s. In 1969, the district of Füssing was given the title "Bad". With the municipal reform on April 1, 1971, the municipality of Bad Füssing was newly formed from the municipalities of Safferstetten, Egglfing am Inn and Würding. Aigen joined on January 1, 1972. In 1999 a licensed casino opened in Bad Füssing .

Bad Füssing has developed into a major health resort with over two million overnight stays per year in just a few decades.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In silver over a blue fifteen-link chain placed after the lower edge of the shield with open bells at both ends a red two- bowl fountain with a conical central column and a blue central fountain from the small upper bowl, pouring in two rays into the lower bowl."

Declaration of the coat of arms: The heraldic stylized fountain symbolizes the thermal baths in Füssing, originated in 1972 from the municipalities of Safferstetten, Egglfing am Inn, Würding and Aigen and thus also stands for the addition of "Bad" to the name. The chain is an attribute of St. Leonhard von Noblat and is a reminder of the long-standing Leonhardi pilgrimage to Aigen. Bad Füssing has had the coat of arms since 1973 based on the municipal council resolution and the approval of the government of Lower Bavaria with a letter dated February 20, 1973.
