history

Until the church is planted

The street village of Salzweg was created on the mule track between Bavaria and Bohemia, which was named Goldener Steig in the early 16th century . In documents from the Hochstift Passau an Olricus Salzweger and 1222 an Ulricus Salzweger are mentioned as witnesses. Salzweg was looked after in both pastoral care and administrative matters by Straßkirchen, which remained the official seat until the secularization in 1803.

In 1803 Salzweg was secularized with most of the Hochstiftischen area in favor of Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany and only fell to Bavaria in 1805. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

20th century

Around 1900 the place had ten properties and about 200 inhabitants. Only in 1910 did Salzweg get its own school building. The population grew rapidly from the middle of the 20th century. Here, the proximity to Passau had an impact, which made many employees reside in Salzweg, on the other hand, small and medium-sized companies found a favorable location in Salzweg. In 1965 the parish of Salzweg was established.
