Until the church is planted

Büchlberg originally belonged to the Abteiland , the property of the Niedernburg monastery , and passed through this to the Passau monastery . From an ecclesiastical perspective, it was initially under the parish of Hutthurm. The local chapel burned down after a lightning strike in 1723. The then rebuilt church was opened in 1726 on the feast of St. Ulrich inaugurated. Through the miraculous image of Mary with the bowed head , it developed into a pilgrimage church.

In the context of secularization , Büchlberg fell to Ferdinand of Tuscany in 1803, together with most of the highly esteemed area, and only came to Bavaria in 1805. In 1818 the municipality Leoprechting was founded, which was renamed Büchlberg in 1950.

19th century

The place belonged to the tax district Leoprechting in the office Hutthurm. After the Passau District Office was founded, Büchlberg was part of the Leoprechting administrative area. Ecclesiastically, it was elevated to the position of the Hutthurm parish branch in 1873 and an independent parish in 1893 . In 1861 Büchlberg was one of the 23 places in the Leoprechting community in the Passau I district court and had 91 residents. The other places in the community were then Bernbach , Edthof , Freihof , Gummering , Gutwiesen , Haideck , Hofwirthmühl , Kringel , Leoprechting, Neuhäuser , Oberkatzendorf , Obermühl , Praßreith , Reitberg , Saderreith , Schwieging , Schwolgau , Thannöd , Traxing , Unterkatzendorf , Witzingerreith and Wolfschiedelmühle . The village, which had been dominated by agriculture until then, experienced an economic boom from a granite quarry at the end of the 19th century.

20th century

By 1900 the place names had changed significantly and the community still had 22 places, Hofwirthsmühl was gone . At the end of the Second World War, after the escape of German troops on April 30, 1945, the place was handed over to the US armed forces without a fight.

In 1946 the parts of the municipality Bärnbach , Kringell , Leoprechting and Neuhäuser were reclassified to Hutthurm, Büchlberg remained in the municipality Leoprechting and became the main town of the municipality. In 1949 Haizing , Kammerwetzdorf , Kittlmühle and Mitterbrünst were incorporated from the Donauwetzdorf community into the Leoprechting community. On April 14, 1950, the community Leoprechting was renamed Büchlberg .

Tourism has been important since the late 1950s. In the late 1960s, the quarry was abandoned due to a lack of sales and is now a protected landscape area. In 1976, Büchlberg was given the title “State Recognized Resort”.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform in Bavaria, the previously independent municipality of Nirsching was incorporated. The districts Manzenberg and Hartingerhof came on May 1, 1978 by Hauzenberg to Buechlberg, six years after her by the resolution of the municipality 1 July 1972 Raßberg to the municipality Hauzenberg came. As a result, the political community experienced a considerable increase.

badges and flags

Büchlberg coat of arms
Blazon : "Split of silver and blue, in front a left-facing, soaring red wolf, behind three (2: 1) silver crescent moons ,facingaway from each other at the top, slanted to the left at the bottom."

The coat of arms has been used since 1958.

Declaration of coat of arms: The red wolf comes from the coat of arms of the Passau bishopric and commemorates the donation of Büchlberg with the monastery Niedernburg by Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa in 1161 to the bishop of Passau , Konrad I von Babenberg . Until the secularization in 1803, the prince-bishopric of Passau held the state rulership in the municipality. The three silver crescent moons in the blue field come from the coat of arms of the Lower Bavarian noble family of the Puchbergs, who named themselves Büchlberg after their ancestral seat and can be traced back to the place as the earliest landlords. The colors silver and blue, as Bavarian state colors, also indicate the inclusion of the Hochstift Passau in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century.

A white and blue flag with the municipality 's coat of arms is used as the unofficial municipal flag .
