Neukirchen vorm Wald is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau .
geography
Geographical location
Neukirchen vorm Wald is located in the Donau-Wald region west of the Ilz , conveniently around 16 km north of Passau , 24 km south of Grafenau and ten kilometers east of the federal motorway 3 (exit Aicha vorm Wald ), which can be reached via a motorway slip road. In the opposite direction, this route leads to the B 12 and thus further to Waldkirchen (20 km) or Freyung (30 km).

history
Until the church is planted
The name probably goes back to the construction of a new church after the Hungarian invasions around 1000. Originally a branch of Tiefenbach, according to a different opinion of Aicha vorm Wald, Neukirchen later became a parish. The testimony of a pastor Sopo von Neukirchen in the years 1158 and 1214 and the testimony of a pastor Gebolf or Gewolf von Neukirchen from 1249 suggest this. Neukirchen was first recorded as a parish in 1417.
The bishop of Passau had the right of patronage over this parish. Neukirchen belonged to the Duchy of Bavaria, which transferred the patronage to the Counts of Schwarzenstein zu Englburg in 1330 and from 1617 to the Counts of Taufkirchen zu Englburg. Several Schwarzensteiners are buried in the parish church. In 1634 the plague raged in the Hofmark Neukirchen.
Neukirchen vorm Wald belonged to the Landshut Rent Office and the Vilshofen Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . The Catholic parish church of St. Martin is known as the "mother church of the Dreiburgenland ".
The political community in its current form was created through the administrative reform in 1818.
19th and 20th centuries
The first schoolhouse was built in 1829, the current one in 1960. The town hall was built in 1965.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 2017 there were 662 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality. Of the resident population, 1262 people were in an employment relationship subject to compulsory insurance. This means that the number of out-commuters was exactly 600 more than that of in-commuters. 57 inhabitants were unemployed. In 2016 there were 42 farms; 1100 hectares of the community area were used for agriculture.
