Straßkirchen is a part of the municipality of Salzweg in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau .
location
Straßkirchen is in the abbey land about one kilometer north of Salzweg at the Federal Straße 12 .
history
A “Henricus de Strazchirchen” is mentioned for the first time in a Passau traditional note around 1220. Just like Salzweg, Straßkirchen was on the important trade route to Bohemia, for which the name Goldener Steig has been handed down since the early 16th century .
The old parish was incorporated into the collegiate monastery St. Salvator in Passau in 1490 . A school in Straßkirchen is first mentioned in 1773. After secularization in Bavaria , Straßkirchen became an independent parish in 1806. On September 25, 1965, the new school building was inaugurated. From the 1970/71 school year onwards, the upper level of the Straßkirchen elementary school was dissolved by the ordinance of the primary school reform. On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Straßkirchen united with the municipality of Salzweg on a voluntary basis as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
Just like Salzweg, Straßkirchen is strongly influenced by its proximity to Passau. In this context, it acts as a popular place of residence and location for small and medium-sized businesses.
