Jakob Pawanger
Jakob Pawanger , also Bachwagner , Powagner and Powanga (born December 28, 1680 in Sankt Stefan am Walde , † August 5, 1743 in Passau ) was an Austrian baroque builder .
Life
Since 1706 Pawanger has been in charge of the renovation of the parish church of St. Giles in Straßkirchen ( Salzweg municipality ). Around 1710 he became master mason of the cathedral chapter in Passau. Here he built the Lamberg Chapel in 1710 and in 1712 he took over the walling up of the high altar in the Jesuit church .
In 1716 he built the Augustinian canons of St. Nikola and in the same year the St. Anna cemetery chapel in Wegscheid . In April 1718 Pawanger was entrusted with the renovation of the Gothic collegiate church of Niederaltaich Monastery . He rebuilt the nave until 1722 and began to rebuild the choir in November 1719. In April 1724 he was replaced by Johann Michael Fischer due to faulty foundations .
In 1720 he began the renovation of the parish church of St. Georg in Schärding , the floor plan and room arrangement of which go back to him. After a pillar collapsed, he was imprisoned in Schärding. It was only in the course of an 18-year trial that he was able to prove his innocence.
Pawanger later appeared in Pram and perhaps built the Laurentius Chapel in Kapfham in 1726 and the rectory in Aicha vorm Wald in 1730 . His four designs for the rectory in Hutthurm from 1741 were not carried out.
