Parish Church of the Assumption from the west

The parish church of Kallham is in the village of Kallham in the municipality of Kallham in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary belongs to the dean's office in Kallham in the diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .

history

A church was mentioned in documents from 1140 to 1160. With the Baroque master builder Jakob Pawanger , the church was rebuilt from 1713 to 1718 with a partial preservation of the Gothic tower. After a fire in 1891, the vaults and the tower were renewed. 1958 was an interior restoration.

The large single-nave four-bay nave has a flat barrel vault. On both sides of the eastern yoke are cross-arm-like chapels with flat elliptical domes. The retracted two-bay choir, vaulted with a flat elliptical dome, has a semi-elliptical choir closure. The fresco painting in the choir was done by Johann Kendlbacher (1716). The church shows itself with a colossal Corinthian pilasters. The vaults and windows are decorated with stucco. The three-axis west gallery above a cross vault is curved in the middle. The 72 meter high west tower is Gothic at the bottom, was structured with pilasters, and after a fire has a new, modified onion helmet.

Furnishing

The remarkable high altar around 1715/1720 shows a high altar painting by Johann Kendlbacher. The side altars and the altars of the side chapels and the choir stalls, the organ and the wooden figures Donatus and Florian were made around 1720/1730. The pulpit is neo-baroque.

The font is Gothic. There are two wrought iron bells from the first quarter of the 18th century.

On the south side of the tower hangs a crucifix by Johann Peter Schwanthaler the Elder. Ä. (Middle of the 18th century).

At the gate to the rectory there is a copy of the statue of Mary, the original, a baroque sandstone Madonna (around 1700), was brought to the church in 2007 after the restoration. In a niche is the statue of John Nepomuk from 1715.

The organ was created by Johann Ignaz Egedacher in 1715 and has been preserved.
