The Skunk Nett River Wildlife Sanctuary is a 147 acres (59.5 ha ) comprehensive protected area in Barnstable in the state of Massachusetts of the United States . It is administered by the Massachusetts Audubon Society .
Protected area
Visitors have 1 mi (1.6 km ) of hiking trails along the eponymous river, where American eels can be found; the Algonquin word Skunknett describes a fishing spot for eels. The nature reserve's attractions include former mills and a swamp of white cypress trees . In addition to night herons and ospreys are observed.
