Barnstable (called The Town of Barnstable ) is a city in the state of Massachusetts on Cape Cod in the United States and the county seat of Barnstable County . The urban area comprises seven villages , the largest and most famous of which is Hyannis .

Barnstable is on Cape Cod, about 110 km southeast of Boston .
