North Truro is a village within the urban area of Truro in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . Over half of the associated area belongs to the Cape Cod National Seashore .
At the end of the 1960s, there was a rocket launch site on the site of the North Truro Air Force Station . It was created in 1969 by US Air Force crews because the military Missile and Drone Division supported MIT in developing sensors. For this it was cheaper to build a new launch site near MIT. Under the project name Have Horn , sounding rockets of the Nike Hydac type were launched from here between December 1969 and the beginning of 1970 . Upon completion of the operation, the equipment used was returned to the base of the Missile and Drone Division, Holloman Air Force Base , New Mexico .
