The Encyclopedia Astronautica is an English-language online lexicon on topics related to space travel . It has been published by space enthusiast Mark Wade since 1994, initially as a personal website , and deals with both historical and current developments. The contributions by Wade and other authors partly open up new perspectives on known events. In 2015 he received the Ordway Award for Sustained Excellence in Spaceflight History from the American Astronautical Society . The 79,433 articles with 13,741 illustrations deal with astronauts , space flights, space stations , fuels , rockets and their components as well as the history of manned and unmanned space travel .
