The Messestadt Ost U-Bahn is a station of the Munich U-Bahn in Messestadt Riem in the Munich district of Trudering-Riem in the east of Munich.

The station was opened on May 29, 1999 and is the terminus of the U2 line. It is located under Willy-Brandt-Allee and is the main public transport connection for the New Munich Trade Fair Center .

Design

The back rail walls are made of concrete, onto which corrugated aluminum is screwed, which is supposed to remind of the planes that once landed here at Munich-Riem Airport . The platform is illuminated by two “light tubes”, whereby the light is reflected by a curved reflector construction. The floor is lined with granite slabs, with red stripes running across the platform across the tracks.

Escalators and fixed stairs lead to a barrier floor at the Ostend, in which pictures from the construction period can be seen. At the exit there is a funnel-shaped sundial. There the time can be read on the outside wall. The planning name of the station was "Riem Ost" or "Neu-Riem Ost".
