The Königsplatz underground station is an underground station in the Maxvorstadt district of the Bavarian capital of Munich .

The station is close to numerous museums , which is why the back track walls are designed with facsimiles of well-known works of art and there are replicas in the middle of the platform , which were only added in 1990. The station is named after the square above and was opened on October 18, 1980. Unlike the other stations that opened in 1980, the floor is laid out with gray-blue azul granite slabs, the columns are clad with large brown stone slabs and the ceiling with the two light strips is covered with aluminum slats. The station was planned under the name of the crossing Brienner Strasse .
