The Max-Weber-Platz U-Bahn station is a train station of the Munich U-Bahn . It is located on trunk line 3 and is served by lines U4 and U5, which come from the east and meet at the train station and travel together on the route into the city. The station was opened with the completion of the main line on October 27, 1988.
The station is located under the eponymous Max-Weber-Platz , an open space in the Haidhausen district . The Bavarian State Parliament , the Klinikum rechts der Isar and the parish church of St. Johann Baptist are in the immediate vicinity . U4 and U5 cross the Isar between the Max-Weber-Platz station and its neighbor Lehel in the city center .
In line with its function as a branching station, the station has a three-track structure: When going out of town, both U4 and U5 stop at track 2, which is equipped with a side platform; the branching takes place behind the station. In the direction of the city, the lines enter the station on their own tracks, but they have a common central platform. Both platforms are accessible via a mezzanine floor under Max-Weber-Platz and one further east under Einsteinstrasse .
In addition to the line strip, which is colored yellow like at all stations of the U4 and U5, the station was mainly designed in light blue. On the walls there are art pictures and newspaper clippings that reflect Haidhausen's history. On the western mezzanine floor of the underground station there is a reconstructed historical horse-drawn tram car , and an entrance is integrated into a tram pavilion.
On the surface above the train station there is an important junction for the Munich tram network , five lines go to Max-Weber-Platz. You can change to line 21 in the direction of St.-Veit-Straße at the Johannisplatz stop, where lines 15 and 25 coming from the south also end. Furthermore, Max-Weber-Platz is the final stop for bus routes 155 and 9410.
