The technology and support center in the Competence Center for Renewable Raw Materials (TFZ) is an institution directly assigned to the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests and is located in the KoNaRo - Competence Center for Renewable Raw Materials in Straubing . The TFZ is an institution for applied and practical research and is also responsible for promoting renewable raw materials in Bavaria. It has about 80 employees.

history

The Technology and Promotion Center (TFZ), which was officially founded on January 1, 2002, has its roots in the two former state institutes for agricultural engineering and soil culture and plant production as well as in the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests . Research into the provision and use of renewable raw materials was already started with the oil crisis in 1973, so that the TFZ can look back on more than 40 years of research in the field of renewable raw materials.

tasks

The task of the Technology and Promotion Center (TFZ) is to promote the provision and use of energy sources and raw materials from harvested goods and residues from agriculture and forestry (renewable raw materials) through application-oriented research, technology and knowledge transfer and state funding for projects . The activity extends in particular to:

  • the testing and further development of the production technology of cultivation systems for raw material plants and the breeding processing of new raw material plants, in each case for the energetic and material use in the non-food sector, through exact tests and model projects,
  • the further development and testing of technologies and processes for the provision and use of renewable energy sources and raw materials, especially in rural areas, through laboratory, pilot plant and pilot projects in the fields of biogenic solid fuels and biogenic fuels, lubricants and process materials,
  • specialist advice for agriculture, companies, politics and administration,
  • the approval of funding measures for the energetic and material use of biomass,
  • the further development of production technology in plant cultivation as well as the cultivation of new raw material plants for energetic and material use.
