Sven Liesegang

Sven Liesegang (born July 1, 1969 ) is a former German handball player and today's handball trainer.

Career

Career as a player

The 1.92 m tall all-rounder in the back , who was primarily used as a playmaker, came to SC Magdeburg in 1983 as a youth player . Towards the end of the 1980s, he was promoted to the first team as the greatest talent of his year. Until 2002 he should belong to this. He won the Champions League (2002), two championship titles (1991 and 2001), twice the Cup (1990 and 1996) and twice the EHF Cup (1999, 2001). Liesegang played 293 Bundesliga games for SCM, scoring 591 goals (60 of which were seven meters). In 2002 he moved to the Bundesliga club Frisch Auf Göppingen . His Bundesliga career ended after a season in Göppingen. He moved to SV Anhalt Bernburg in 2003 . Later he was player-coach for regional league club Eintracht Glinde until 2008.

Career as a coach

In 2008 Liesegang became junior coordinator of SC Magdeburg and from January to June 2010 looked after the first team on an interim basis. In summer 2010 he took over the coaching position from the third division club SV Anhalt Bernburg. From the start of the 2013 season to February 2014, Liesegang was the coach of the third division team Dessau-Roßlauer HV . From August 2014 he coached the upper division HC Einheit Plauen . In the summer of 2017 Liesegang took over the coaching position from the Lower Saxon upper division handball friends Helmstedt-Büddenstedt, but he had to quit this activity in September 2017 for private reasons. Since November 2017 he has been training the upper division club HV Rot-Weiss Staßfurt.
