KoNaRo - competence center for renewable raw materials

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under the umbrella of the KoNaRo - Competence Center for Renewable Raw Materials in Straubing , three independent institutions work closely together in the field of renewable raw materials : The TUM Campus Straubing (TUMCS), the Technology and Support Center (TFZ) and CARMEN eV All three institutions research and develop and promote fields of application for biomass on behalf of the Free State of Bavaria . A joint coordination council supports their cooperation.

history

In 1998 the Bavarian State Government decided to pool the activities in Bavaria related to renewable raw materials in Straubing. As a result, the KoNaRo was officially founded in January 2001. CARMEN eV and the first subject areas of the technology and support center moved to Straubing for this purpose. In July 2001 the concept was expanded to include the Straubing Science Center.

structure

Each of the three pillars of KoNaRo has a specific task profile. The TUM Campus Straubing is primarily concerned with basic research and teaching, the focus of the Technology and Promotion Center (TFZ) is on applied research as well as promotion and consulting and CARMEN eV is particularly committed to public relations and the Project appraisal.

With different focus areas in the field of renewable raw materials, the employees can accompany and ecologically analyze the product cycle all the way from the plant in the field to marketing in the supermarket. KoNaRo employees are involved in the development and testing of new technologies and products as well as in market research and market development.

The work of KoNaRo is accompanied by the coordination council, which includes representatives from science, industry and practice as well as local politics (as of 2020):

tasks

KoNaRo is active in research, advice and funding to support the sustainable use of alternative energy and raw material sources from renewable raw materials. The potential of these raw materials from agriculture and forestry is great. Their use has been proven for thousands of years. Wood has a long tradition both as a building material and as a heating medium, as does fibers for clothing or straw as an insulating material . These products have only lost their importance since industrialization . At KoNaRo, attempts are now being made to find new uses and to improve traditional ones, for example as a raw material for the chemical industry , for the production of plastics or for generating energy in solid, liquid or gaseous form.

The tasks of the KoNaRo are:

  • Advice to various interest groups through exhibitions, workshops, seminars, lectures and one-on-one discussions
  • Public relations and publication of brochures and information material
  • Appraisal, supervision and evaluation of projects in the areas of renewable raw materials, renewable energies and sustainable use of resources
  • Research and teaching in the areas:
    • Regenerative energy systems
    • Chemistry of biogenic raw materials
    • Biogenic Polymers
    • Marketing and management of renewable raw materials
    • Business administration of renewable raw materials
    • Organic and analytical chemistry
    • Bioinformatics
    • Energy Technology
    • Geothermal energy systems
    • Grid integration
    • Organic chemistry and microreaction systems
  • Application-oriented research in the areas:
    • Raw material plants and material flows
    • Solid biofuels
    • Biogenic fuels, lubricants and process materials
  • Project funding
  • Quality management wood heating plants
