The Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture (SMEKUL), as the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, is a supreme state authority of the Free State of Saxony with its seat in the state capital Dresden . State minister is Wolfram Günther ( Greens ), state secretaries are Gerd Lippold and Gisela Reetz .
history
The Ministry was formed in 1998 from the State Ministry for Agriculture, Food and Forestry and the State Ministry for Environment and Regional Development . The country's development was then the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior (SMI), and since 2019 under the name of regional development the same Ministry assigned under the direction of the current environment and agriculture minister.
Until 2019 it was simply called the Saxon State Ministry for Environment and Agriculture (SMUL).

The ministry is divided into a house management and six departments :

- Department 3 - Agriculture and Forestry
- Department 4 - Water, Soil, Recyclables
- Department 5 - Nature, Immission and Radiation Protection
- Department 6 - Energy and Climate Protection
Subordinate business area
To subordinate authorities include the State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology , the state-owned enterprises Sachsenforst , Saxon Stud Administration , State Operating Society for Environment and Agriculture (BfUL) and the State Reservoir Administration (LTV). Other subordinate institutions include the Saxon State Foundation for Nature and Environment (LANU) and lock Reinhardtsgrimma the State training center Reinhardtsgrimma .
Responsibilities of the Ministry
The Ministry of State deals with environmental policy and matters of environmental protection. It is also responsible for rural development and agriculture. The emission protection including radiation protection falls within its jurisdiction.
