Agriculture Ministers' Conference
The Conference of Agriculture Ministers of the Federation and the Länder , or the Conference of Agriculture Ministers for short (AMK) , is a regular meeting of the Agriculture Ministers of the Federation and the Länder . The Secretary of the Agriculture Committee of the Federal Council and a representative of the Conference of Health Ministers are invited as permanent guests. The AMK serves to coordinate matters relating to agriculture and consumer protection and takes place annually in two events. During Green Week in January, the non-public Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Conference is traditionally held in Berlin as part of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) , in which agricultural policy decision-makers from all parts of the world and high-ranking representatives of international organizations take part. A special conference of agriculture ministers was held in Berlin on March 12, 2020 to amend the more stringent fertilizer ordinance required by the federal government and the EU Commission . The Agriculture Ministers' Conferences are prepared by previous meetings (Heads of Office conferences) of State Secretaries from the federal and state levels .
There are five transnational working bodies in the area of responsibility of the Agriculture Ministers' Conference:
- Federal / State Working Group for Agricultural Production and Market (BLAG)
- Federal / State Working Group on Sustainable Land Development (ARGE Landentwicklung)
- Federal / State Working Group on Forestry (Forest Chief Conference)
- State Working Group for Consumer Protection (LAV)
- State working group for organic farming (LÖK)
The working bodies are institutions of cooperation between the federal and state administrations. Your primary task is primarily to process orders from the ACK and AMK.
The Agriculture Ministers' Conference is a permanent institution with an annually changing chair. In 2020, the Saarland Minister for Environment and Consumer Protection Reinhold Jost will hold the chair.
