Upper Franconia constituency
The constituency of Upper Franconia is one of the seven constituencies for the Bavarian state and district elections . Territorially, it corresponds to the Bavarian district of Upper Franconia .
Since the election on September 15, 2013, the constituency has sent at least 16 members to the Maximilianeum , 8 of which are directly elected in the constituencies . The 2018 election resulted in an overhang and compensation mandate , so that the total number of Upper Franconian MPs in the 18th Bavarian State Parliament is 18.
Constituencies
Up until the 2008 election, the constituency was divided into nine constituencies. Since the number of residents entitled to vote had decreased compared to the other constituencies, the Wunsiedel constituency was dissolved for the 2013 election and merged with the Kulmbach to form the new Wunsiedel, Kulmbach constituency , while the Bayreuth and Hof constituencies were also re-tailored.

Results of the parties
Elections since 2008
In the state elections in 2008 and 2013, the CSU won all nine and eight direct mandates respectively. The remaining seats were filled by the list applicants who had the largest total number of votes on the relevant party list. In 2018, the CSU won all eight direct mandates again, but would only have been entitled to seven mandates due to the total number of votes. This resulted in an overhang mandate , the SPD benefited as the second strongest force and received the resulting compensation mandate .
