Constituency of Swabia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schwaben constituency is one of the seven constituencies for the Bavarian state and district elections . Territorially, it corresponds to the Bavarian district of Swabia .

The constituency sends at least 26 members to the Maximilianeum , 13 of which are directly elected in the constituencies . The 2018 election resulted in two overhang and three compensatory mandates , so that the total number of Swabian MPs in the 18th Bavarian State Parliament is 31. As a result, Swabia is represented somewhat more strongly than usual in the Maximilianeum with 15.1% of the MPs instead of the statutory 14.4%.

Results of the parties

Elections since 2008

In the state elections in 2008, 2013 and 2018, the CSU won all thirteen direct mandates. The remaining seats were filled by the list applicants who had the largest total number of votes on the relevant party list. In 2018 the CSU won all thirteen direct mandates, but would only have been entitled to eleven mandates due to the total number of votes. This resulted in two overhang mandates . The AfD, the Greens and the Free Voters each received one of the three resulting compensation mandates .
