Fabian Mehring (born February 14, 1989 in Augsburg ) is a German politician ( Free Voters ) and has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since October 2018 . In November 2018, Mehring was appointed Parliamentary Managing Director of his government group.

Career

Fabian Mehring graduated from high school in Wertingen in 2008 and studied political, social and law at the University of Augsburg and the Free University of Berlin from 2009 to 2013 . In 2018 he was awarded a thesis at the University of Augsburg on the subject of “Sparking between knowledge and power. A reconstruction of the processes, effects and challenges of scientific policy advice on German foreign policy. ” PhD .

From 2009 to 2012, he worked alongside his studies at various chairs at the University of Augsburg and in the Bavarian State Parliament, where he had worked as a research assistant since 2012, most recently as a consultant for the Member of Parliament Johann Häusler . From 2014 to 2016 he was also a lecturer in political science and international relations at the University of Augsburg.

In the state election on October 14, 2018 , he was elected to the state parliament from the list of the constituency of Swabia. Mehring is a member of the council of elders there.

Mehring lives in the Waltershofen district of Meiting .

Local political mandates

Mehring has been a member and at the same time parliamentary group chairman in the Meitingen municipal council and in the district council of the Augsburg district since May 1, 2014 . As a district councilor, he is a member of the administrative board of the Augsburger Messe , as a supervisory board member of the Augsburg Innovation Park and the regional economic development agency Ahochdrei and as a member of the assembly of the Sparkassenzweckverband Kreissparkasse Augsburg . He is also a representative of the district in the "Environmental Competence Center Diedorf " working group.

Volunteering

Among other things, Mehring has been chairman of the Westendorf tennis club since 2013 . At his party, he was Deputy State Chairman of the Young Free Voters Bavaria from 2008 to 2012. In the Free Voters he has been the 2nd chairman for Augsburg-Land since 2010 and was the 2nd district chairman in Swabia from 2012 to 2018.
