Peter Schmid (born February 6, 1947 in Christertshofen ) is a German politician ( CSU ) who was a member of the Bavarian state parliament from 1998 to 2013.

Private

Schmid passed the secondary school leaving certificate at an evening secondary school. He then learned the profession of chemical laboratory assistant before working as a technician for business administration. From 1985 to 1998 Schmid was the managing director.

Schmid is Roman Catholic, married and has two children.

Political career

In 1970 Schmid joined the CSU. Since 1984 he has been a member of the district council of the Neu-Ulm district and was parliamentary group chairman in the district council from 1985 to 1996 and then deputy district administrator until 2008. Schmid was CSU district chairman from 2003 to 2009 and is now honorary district chairman. He was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1998 to 2013. In 2008 he was directly elected in the Neu-Ulm electoral district with 44.5% of the first votes. In the state parliament, Schmid was active in the committee for education, youth and sport as well as in the committee for the public service. In the CSU parliamentary group, he was chairman of the sport working group and a member of the education, youth and sport working groups and of the public service working group. He is a member of the state sports advisory board. He was also a member of the Broadcasting Council from 2003 to 2008 .

He did not run for the 2013 state election . His successor in the constituency was Beate Merk .
