Herbert Woerlein

Herbert Woerlein (born June 29, 1958 in Augsburg ) is a German teacher and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending the Pestalozzi primary school in Gersthofen until 1969, he graduated from the Holbein grammar school in Augsburg in 1978 . He then studied German, English and theology at the Universities of Augsburg and Munich. In 1984 he passed the 1st and 1986 the 2nd state examination for teaching at secondary schools (German and English) with distinction. He had previously worked as an “assistant teacher” in Wirksworth and Matlock (UK) (1982–1983).

After preparatory work in Munich-Pasing and Neufahrn i. NB he was a teacher at the Neusäß secondary school (1986–1989), as an employee at the Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Culture (1989–1994), as vice-principal at the Heinrich von Buz secondary school in Augsburg (1994–1996) and from 1996 until 2013 as a school and seminar leader at the secondary school in Neusäß. He also taught from 2001 to 2013 at the Academy for Teacher Training and Personnel Management in Dillingen. Woerlein is the author of numerous textbooks and teaching aids.

In September 2019 Woerlein switched back to school service and has since worked as the school director at the Johann-Winklhofer-Realschule in Landsberg.

Herbert Woerlein has been married since 1985 and has three grown sons.

Herbert Woerlein has been a member of the SPD and city council in Stadtbergen since 2008 (parliamentary group chairman from 2010 to 2013). From 2008 to 2019 he was also the deputy chairman of the local SPD-Stadtbergen association. In the 2013 state elections , he entered the Bavarian state parliament via the list in the Schwaben constituency . In the federal election on September 24, 2017, he missed the entry as a direct candidate in the Bundestag against Hansjörg Durz . In October 2018, he left the Bavarian state parliament.
