Hansjörg Durz (born July 29, 1971 in Augsburg ) is a German politician ( CSU ) and businessman. On September 22, 2013 he was elected to the German Bundestag . Before that he was mayor of the city of Neusäß .

Life, education and work

Hansjörg Durz grew up in the Täfertingen district of Neusäss . After elementary school he attended the Rhabanus-Maurus-Gymnasium St. Ottilien , where he passed his Abitur in 1991 . He then completed a banking apprenticeship at Kreissparkasse Augsburg before studying business administration at the University of Augsburg . In 1999 he founded a trading company, whose managing director he was until his election as 1st mayor. Durz is married and has two children. He is of the Roman Catholic denomination.

Political career

Durz has been a member of the CSU since 1992 and a member of the Junge Union since 1996 . Since 1997 he has been a member of the district executive committee of the CSU Augsburg-Land and from 1996 to 2002 he was deputy district chairman of the Junge Union Augsburg-Land.

In 1996, at the age of 24, Hansjörg Durz was elected to the Neusäß City Council, in 2002 as Second Mayor and on March 2, 2008 as Mayor. Since 2002 he has been a member of the district council of the Augsburg district .

On January 18, 2013 he was nominated to succeed Eduard Oswald as a candidate for the Bundestag constituency of Augsburg-Land and was elected on September 22, 2013 with 60.6%. In the 2017 federal election , he defended the direct mandate with 47.8% of the vote.

In the 19th German Bundestag, Durz is Deputy Chairman of the Digital Agenda Committee . In addition, he is a full member of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy and the "Artificial Intelligence" commission of inquiry. Durz is also a deputy member of the finance committee .
