Christoph Maier (born August 16, 1984 in Schwabmünchen ) is a German lawyer and politician of the AfD . He has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 2018 .

Life

Maier studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. He is a member of the Munich fraternity Sudetia , according to Augsburger Allgemeine, an environment strictly right-wing national fraternities. Until 2015 he worked in the regional arbitration court of the AfD. In May 2016 he passed the second state examination. He works as a lawyer in Bavaria.

Maier is a member of the Bavarian AfD . In 2016 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of Lord Mayor of Memmingen. In the Bavarian state elections in 2018 , he ran as a constituency member in the Memmingen district on list position 5 of the AfD in Swabia and moved into the state parliament. There Maier is Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Constitution, Law, Parliamentary Questions and Integration. After the AfD moved into the state parliament, he was elected as parliamentary director of his group. Maier is single and lives in Memmingen .

The media describe Maier as belonging to the völkisch-nationalist wing of the party around Björn Höcke . During Angela Merkel's visit to Ottobeuren near Memmingen, Maier took part in the demonstration critical of Merkel in the vicinity of well-known right-wing and conservative fraternities and supporters of the right-wing neo-Nazi small party Der III.
