Chuck Wagner

Chuck Wagner (born June 20, 1958 in Nashville , Tennessee ) is an American actor .

Life

Wagner studied acting at the University of Alabama , where he already played roles such as Judas in Godspell , Lancelot in Camelot , Pentheus in Die Bakchen and King Ferdinand in Verlorene Liebesmüh and received an award for best freshman in 1977 . He also appeared in theater performances during the semester break and met his future wife. Wagner moved to the University of Southern California after receiving his first role offers on the west coast of the USA.

He had his first professional engagement as Lancelot in a production of the musical Camelot by the Sacramento Music Circus ; this was followed by the role of Curly in an Oklahoma production ! at the Starlight Bowl in San Diego . 1984 followed his Broadway debut as Athos in the revival of William Anthony McGuires on Alexandre Dumas ' The Three Musketeers based original production from 1928. The revival flopped and was canceled after a week. In the following years he played the role of Javert in Les Misérables both on Broadway and in touring theater . He played in front of Stephen Sondheim in a casting for Into the Woods in New York City and was given the role of Prince in the original production. He also appeared in touring theater in this production. This was followed by a Broadway engagement as a beast in the musical Beauty and the Beast . From 2004 to 2005 he played in the musical Dracula .

Wagner premiered on US television in 1982; until 1983 he was seen as Randall Thompson in the soap opera General Hospital . After a few guest appearances, he received the title role in 1983 in the action series Automan by successful producer Glen A. Larson ; However, this turned out to be a flop and was discontinued after only twelve broadcast episodes. His television career did not recover from this setback, only a few guest engagements followed. In the mid-1980s, Wagner starred in two low-budget films , first in the science fiction film America 3000 ; this was followed by The Sisterhood by Filipino director Cirio H. Santiago .

Wagner is married with two children and has lived in Pensacola since the mid-2000s .
